Executive Chef, Jason Alford


With more than eight years at Roka Akor under his belt, Chef Jason Alford brings a passion and commitment for fresh, delicious food to his role as Executive Chef at the restaurant brand’s flagship location in Scottsdale.

Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Alford’s career in hospitality began in 2003 when he chose to work under Chef Anton Brunbauer, a Scottsdale Culinary Hall of Fame inductee. Chef Brunbauer was a great mentor who convinced Alford to skip culinary classes and instead learn from him firsthand in the kitchen. Alford went on to work with Chef Ce Bian at Roka Akor, at which he became part of a talented team dedicated to quality ingredients and top-notch service.

With the philosophy that “you are only as good as your last dish,” always in the back of his mind, Alford strives to continually improve at his craft and passes that commitment and passion to his team at Roka Akor Scottsdale. Alford strongly believes in building a core team from front to back operations, as he says his team members are “ambassadors of our food”. His dedication to leading the culinary team led Alford to earn one of the country’s top culinary awards in the inaugural edition of Best Chefs America (2013), which is a peer review guide of top U.S. chefs.

In his free time, Alford likes to spend time with his wife Jess and son Jackson. As a lover of music, Alford also has a soft spot for collecting vintage guitars and music.
