5 Excellent Options For Dining and Drinking on New Year’s Eve

by Alison

Before partying, enjoy a fancy dinner or something more casual

Pretty much everyone has a different approach to New Year’s Eve. Some folks decide to stay indoors and throw a house party, while others decide to get out and enjoy ringing in the New Year with tons of friendly strangers. Either way, dining at a great restaurant is a decidedly excellent way to send off 2017.

Considering that New Year’s Eve can be a particularly expensive night to dine, it’s important to know where to find solid menus. These five options, ranging from upscale prix-fixe to a totally reasonable dinner party with booze included, are perfect for pretty much any New Year’s Eve gameplan.

Lucienne

Feeling like an early dinner before a night full of raging? Seatings at this Downtown newcomer’s chic four course prix fixe are $75 per person at 4:30 p.m., which leaves plenty of time for pre-partying before the ball drops. Enjoy dishes like tomato tart with andouille, orzo risotto, and pheasant served with apple mousseline. Reservations required, additional seatings available (at $85 and $95, respectively) at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on December 31.

Weights + Measures

Indulge in lump crab ravioli, winter truffle risotto, and wood-grilled octopus at Weights & Measures, which will serve a $75, four course prix fixe on New Year’s Eve. The desserts on offer, including a cacao nib-cardamom chocolate bark served with Frangelico-hazelnut ice cream, are particularly appealing. Reservations are required.

Roka Akor

This chic dining room makes for the perfect setting for a romantic New Year’s Eve, and the menu is even more impressive. A six-course prix-fixe will be on offer during dinner, including dishes like king crab dressed in chili lime butter, foie gras mousse, and Japanese A4 wagyu beef. For an extra $30, that fancy beef can be upgraded to Kobe. Reservations are currently available from 4:30 p.m. to 1 a.m, and the $128 price tag includes a glass of complimentary champagne.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations

This popular bar will be a lively haunt on NYE, especially when paired with Chef Peter Petro’s prix-fixe dinner. Featuring dishes like Cajun brick chicken, beef short rib, and gulf snapper, this three-course dinner also includes wine, cocktail, or whiskey pairings, along with a glass of Moet Champagne with dessert. Bosscat will host its NYE festivities from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

B&B Butchers

There’s no better way to ring in 2018 than a bunch of fancy meat. No prix-fixe option will be on offer here, which is a preferable option for many diners. After enjoying a nice steak, head up to the (heated) rooftop lounge for cocktails, dancing, and tunes from a DJ. Reservations are required, and reserving a bottle of Champagne ahead of time will score revelers 20% off.
