Another Arizona restaurant is expanding to Texas.
Roka Akor, the upscale sushi eatery that’s a favorite among Valley executives, will be opening its fifth location in Houston. The 6,500-square-foot space is slated to open Monday, June 26.
Scottsdale-based JNK concepts, which runs Roka Akor, could possibly bring its other concepts, Marigold Maison Indian Cuisine and Enolo Wine Café, to the area as well.
It’s the latest Valley restaurant to makes it way over to Texas.
Osio Culinary Group’s SumoMaya and Steak 44’s sister concept Steak 48 will both be opening in Houston’s River Oaks District soon; and Sam Fox‘s True Food Kitchen is adding another Texas location in Dallas.
Many Valley restaurants expand into Texas because of its similarity to the Phoenix market.
“We’re looking for great real estate…We feel like Dallas trades a lot like Phoenix,” Fox told sister publication Dallas Business Journal. “We have a few restaurants open in Houston and are actively looking for more real estate. We’re looking at San Antonio. We have four restaurants in Austin right now, and we’re building another North and another Flower Child,” Fox said. “We’re very excited about the whole state of Texas.”
